Birgit Bauer is a social media and digital health expert, journalist, speaker, analyst, and Patient Expert.
Birgit is German and co-founded the company Manufaktur für Antworten UG. She has more than 16 years’ experience as a social media and digital health expert, journalist and speaker.
She specialises in Healthcare, developing workshops and talks about the use of social media for target groups such as patients, patient organisations, NPO, industry and bio-tech companies, start-ups and governmental institutions.
In her role as consultant, she designs and implements social media and communication strategies for different businesses or patient projects, and brings their ideas and strategies to reality. Along with her team, Birgit also designs and performs feasibility studies.
Birgit is one of the most influential bloggers about Multiple Sclerosis and Healthcare in Germany and Europe. She started her Blog ‘Fast normal! Mein Leben mit MS’ (‘Almost normal – My Life with MS’) in 2007.
Birgit is a Patient Expert and Eupati Fellow. She supports the European Multiple Sclerosis Platform on a voluntary basis, is Chair of the Patient Advisory Group of the European Society of Radiology, and is a proud member of the editorial board of the ‘Data Saves Lives’ initiative. She is a member of the HIMSS Future50 Class of 2021 and is a member of the Tehdas project stakeholder group.
Birgit is also involved with different advisory boards, committees and focus groups. She is a co-author of different scientific whitepapers and publications around the theme ‘Patient – Doctor Communication’.
