Bernadette Hyland-Wood is a researcher at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane Australia. Her research examines the political and social life of data.
Bernadette co-leads the Responsible Data Science Program in the QUT Centre for Data Science and is an Affiliated Investigator in the QUT Digital Media Research Centre. As co-chair of the W3C Government Linked Data Working Group, she co-designed foundational data standards and best practices for linked data to make data findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR data).
She co-founded one of Australia’s earliest Web studios (Plugged In Software P/L) and went on to co-lead three tech startups including a spin-out from MIT.
