Lisa Allen (Head of Consultancy for Data Programmes, ODI) is in conversation with Dr Kevin Macnish (Digital Ethics Consulting Manager, Sopra Steria).
They'll be discussing data ethics, and why embedding ethical data practices needs to be a fundamental consideration for all organisations that want to grow and thrive. On the agenda will be questions about how the ethical sharing and use of data is now a board-level topic; and what businesses can do to make sure they equip their staff with the skills they need to make ethical decisions around data.

About the speakers
Lisa Allen is is a data professional and has led many data teams in the public sector in the UK. She has experience across various data disciplines including open data, data protection, data transformation, and developing data strategies and frameworks to implement data governance.
At the ODI, Lisa heads up the consultancy team who use their data expertise to advise and guide companies, governments and organisations to make the data ecosystem work better for everyone.
Dr Kevin Macnish is a former analyst and manager at GCHQ and the US DOD, and gained his PhD in digital ethics from the University of Leeds in 2013. He has been interviewed by BBC national television and radio and has spoken at both the House of Commons and the House of Lords in relation to digital ethics. In 2018 Kevin published The Ethics of Surveillance: an introduction (Routledge), and in 2020 Big Data and Democracy (Edinburgh University Press). He has published more than 30 academic articles and chapters on the ethics of privacy, AI, and cybersecurity, and is a frequent speaker at international trade and academic conferences
