Strategy Consultant

Shoreditch                                                                                                      £40k - £50k

The Strategy Consultant will be responsible for building trusted relationships with clients, overseeing and ensuring delivery of projects and contributing to marketing discussions in order to build strategic relationships with organisations to support and build their in house skills and capacity to execute their open data projects. 

You will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that consulting, research and technical projects deliver for clients;
  • Developing new client relationships; and
  • Working with clients to develop and shape their approach to open data

Success will be measured on a mixture of feedback from clients, colleagues and financial performance.

You must have the skills, knowledge, experience and interpersonal skills that will mean you will deliver at least 6 projects for clients (either domestic or international), manage or deliver at least 3 research projects, contribute to internal corporate strategy and form long-term relationship with clients.

The successful candidate must have a passion or strong interest in open data, experience of strategy consulting for either internal or external clients and excellent organisational, written and verbal communication skills.

Training and Events Co-ordinator

Training and Events Co-ordinator

About the role

Reporting to the Commercial Director and working day-to-day for the Training Business Manager, you will be part of the team that runs our training, events and commercial business.

You are likely to have a passion or strong interest in people, an understanding of human development and education and be a proven organiser and administrator.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the commercial organisation to plan, manage and deliver excellent courses, brilliant events and outstanding customer experience driving people to come back again and again and recommend to others.
  • Helping to create wonderful, imaginative experiences, with attention to detail that are beautifully organised and yet relaxed.
  • Helping build courses and content that people want to learn from and pass on.
  • The ODI is a relatively new organisation that is fast paced and growing, all team members need to be prepared to get stuck in and learn new skills. This will include supporting the work of all of the commercial team.

Digital Production Editor

Reporting to the Commercial Director, working day-to-day for the Training Business Manager and working with our developers, you will be part of the team that produces digital learning content for the Open Data Institute, supports events & marketing and manages day-to-day maintenance of the ODI websites.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to help develop content platform and content that people want to learn from and pass on; and drive our reach across the web.

You will be responsible for:

  • Day-to-day maintenance, usability and front end functionality of the Open Data Institute web sites
  • Liaising with the technical team on web development
  • Audio, video, photo and slide production of our lectures, workshops, events, and courses

Editorial and writing experience and knowledge of Open Data and open systems would be useful but not essential.  

The successful candidate must have an eager desire to learn new skills and work with others to make things happen.  A collaborator with good communication and interpersonal skills, including an ability to ask for help you must be able to think from a users perspective.

We are a small team so, you will find yourself having to roll your sleeves up and get stuck into helping with training and event delivery!   This role will require travel throughout the UK and the need to work flexibly including working away at least five weekends per annum.

Data Visualiser

We are looking for a Data Visualiser with a solid background in using source control, testing frameworks and agile development practices to lead and advise on creating compelling data visualisations for use in our print and online materials.

Candidates should have experience in:

  • creating compelling data visualisations that help users to make good decisions
  • selecting data visualisation techniques based on the characteristics of underlying data
  • illustrating certainty and other statistical concepts within visualisations
  • designing engaging graphics for printed materials
  • using visualisation tools and libraries such as Gephi, Processing, R and/or d3js
  • building interactive solutions using standard web technologies: HTML, SVG, CSS and Javascript
  • creating images, icons and other assets to use within web applications

As well as technical experience and skills, all members of the team will be required to write about and present their work, share their knowledge with the team and other developers, be familiar with the principles of good web application design and preferably linked data, and show initiative in suggesting technical and non-technical solutions to issues we encounter.
